Lynn Riddick-produced video wins prestigious award

A teen driving safety video written, produced and directed by Lynn Riddick of Lynn Riddick Communications has won a 2006 Bronze World Medal in the category of Safety/First Aid in the New York Festivals. The video, entitled "On the Road," was written and produced at the request of the USAA Educational Foundation to educate 16- and 17-year-olds about driving hazards and the importance of limiting distractions while driving.

"Teenage driving videos have historically relied on a testimonial approach, which has usually revolved around very sad stories,” Lynn explains. “The sentimentality of that approach was starting to feel a bit contrived and outdated so we produced something a little fresher this time around: a piece with a contemporary spin to appeal to teenagers with ever-decreasing attention spans."

The educational video addresses seat belt usage, impaired driving and modern-day distractions, such as cell phones and text messaging. More than 200,000 DVDs will be distributed nationally.

New York Festivals is a prominent international competition that recognizes the world’s best work in film and video. Entries are judged by panels of peers in respective industries in both the U.S. and overseas.

San Antonio magazine features Lynn Riddick article

Gardeners who have struggled with growing flowers and plants in San Antonio’s oppressive heat and temperamental soil may find inspiration in a Lynn Riddick-written article in the February/March 2006 issue of San Antonio magazine.

Lynn’s story profiles an Elm Creek couple that turned their rocky, sharply sloping backyard into a lush garden retreat for entertaining and relaxing.

“It was an enjoyable article to research and write,” Lynn says. “The couple had a number of severe landscaping challenges to overcome, including drainage issues and a crumbling old stone building, an eyesore in the middle of the property. Working with a competent team of experts, they were able to overcome obstacles and create the garden of their dreams.”

National magazine features Lynn Riddick byline

Check out Lynn Riddick’s feature story “Home Free – Direct Selling: the Business That Could Change Your Life” in the premiere issue of Success from Home, a national magazine launched this month for the direct selling and network marketing industries.

Direct selling brings unique products and services directly to consumers in their homes without a fixed retail location and the subsequent costs of overhead and advertising. Mary Kay Cosmetics, The Pampered Chef and Southern Living at Home are just a few direct selling companies.

“While researching and writing the article, I discovered that direct selling is a vibrant and growing industry,” Lynn says. “What’s most interesting is that direct selling is suitable to so many people, from those wishing to supplement their income by a few hundred dollars a month, to people devoting their complete entrepreneurial energies to building a thriving home-based business.”

Lynn Riddick Communications lands front-page articles for clients

Lynn Riddick Communications recently landed a front-page Business section article in the San Antonio Express-News on behalf of CareNet, a medical call center headquartered in San Antonio. The story, written by reporter Travis Poling, covered the recent acquisition of Christus Santa Rosa CareNet by former West Telemarketing Executive John Erwin.

Lynn Riddick Communications also ghost-penned a front-page column for the Real Estate Quarterly of the Dallas Business Journal on behalf of Ginger Nobles and Susan Baldwin, a dynamic real estate team with Briggs Freeman Real Estate Brokerage in Dallas. Under the Nobles/Baldwin byline, the column explored the unusually active residential real estate market in Dallas.

“For businesses with a story to tell, earned media is a great way to tell it,” says Lynn. “Favorable media coverage draws widespread attention to your business efforts in a way that is much more credible than paid advertising.”
